RUIZ PARDO - NEBREDA is a Madrid-based architecture and engineering practice that operates internationally from a multi-local approach, attending to an appropriate balance between local knowledge and global expertise.

They have completed works in Puerto Rico, Namibia, Paraguay, Zambia, El Salvador, and Spain, and they have delivered projects in sixteen other countries.

It was founded in 2011 by Marcelo Ruiz Pardo (architect) and Sonia Nebreda (building engineer) as a multidisciplinary team that provides fully integrated architectural and engineering services.

MARCELO RUIZ PARDO

M.Architect _ COAM | REG A | OA

Marcelo Ruiz Pardo (Spain, 1980) studied architecture at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) and at the University of Geneva (UNIGE). Since 2012 he is Associate Professor of Architectural Design at the ETSAM. He holds a Post graduate degree in ‘City and Enviorement’ of the Polytechnic University of Madrid UPM, and he is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the ETSAM. He is a member of several Research Groups, Innovation Teaching Groups, and Development Cooperation Groups at the UPM. He has taught seminars and conferences in international congresses on university teaching.

SONIA NEBREDA

Building Engineer _ COAATM

Sonia Nebreda  (Spain, 1979) is graduated in Technical Architecture at the Universidad de Burgos (UBU) and in Building Engineering at the Nebrija University in Madrid. She holds a Postgraduate degree in Project Management from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). She has a broad understanding of all technical and operational issues surrounding the practice of architecture as she has a wide experience in the construction industry since she worked for eight years as Construction and Project Manager in several construction companies.

 
 

Ruiz Pardo - Nebreda’s work has been exhibited in the international biennials of architecture in Argentina, Quito, and El Salvador, as well as in international exhibitions in Japan, Argentina, Germany, Ecuador, El Salvador, and the United States. 

Their work has been widely published in books and in international magazines such as DOMUS, AR Architectural Review, The Plan, UA Urbanism and Architecture, Detail, or ARQA, among others. In addition, they have been awarded in international architectural competitions in Spain, Italy, and Switzerland. They have been invited as lecturers and visiting critics at universities in the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong, Spain, and Puerto Rico

They have received important international awards such as the Best Architects 21, the Europe 40 under 40 Award, the International Architecture Award 2019 and 2017, The Plan Award 2019, the German Design Award 2018, The American Architecture Prize (AAP 2016), the S.Arch International Award 2017, the Grand Prize of the Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism of El Salvador (XIIBAUES 2016), the Luis M. Mansilla Prize 2016, and the X NAN Prize 2017 for the best project of a Spanish study abroad, among other important recognitions.
